The Machine Intelligence and Neural Technologies (MINT) laboratory at Vanderbilt University, Computer Science Department, seeks a postdoctoral research assistant position in computational optimal transport for machine learning and computer vision. The prospective candidate will work with Dr. Soheil Kolouri (Computer Science) to develop efficient algorithms that are theoretically grounded and have real-world impact.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a solid mathematical background and an interest in computational optimal transport and its various applications in machine learning and computer vision. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in computer science or related disciplines. The following skills are highly desirable:

• Familiarity with the optimal transport problem
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art deep learning models
• Solid programming skills, proficiency in Python, and more specifically, PyTorch
• Strong mathematical background and a passion for designing new algorithms

The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in research, help with mentoring Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, and ensure timely completion of the project’s milestones.

The appointment is available immediately and is for one academic year. Renewal for a second year is contingent on the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, acceptable progress in carrying out the assigned duties, and mutual agreement.

Please submit a cover letter including a brief statement of your career goals, your curriculum vitae, the selected publication(s) (not to exceed three), and a list of three references.
