The Machine Intelligence and Neural Technologies (MINT) laboratory at Vanderbilt University, Computer Science Department, seeks to immediately fill a postdoctoral research assistant position in machine learning and computer vision to work on embodied lifelong learning. The prospective candidate will collaborate with Dr. Soheil Kolouri (Computer Science) and a multi-institutional and multinational team of researchers on an exciting project focusing on lifelong learning for embodied agents.

The Machine Intelligence and Neural Technologies (MINT) laboratory at Vanderbilt University, Computer Science Department, seeks to immediately fill a postdoctoral research assistant position in machine learning and computer vision to work on embodied lifelong learning. The prospective candidate will collaborate with Dr. Soheil Kolouri (Computer Science) and a multi-institutional and multinational team of researchers on an exciting project focusing on lifelong learning for embodied agents.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with strong expertise in machine learning and computer vision and an interest in deep self-supervised learning. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in computer science or related disciplines. The following skills are highly desirable:

• Strong background in computer vision and machine learning as indicated by the candidate’s publication record
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art self-supervised learning algorithms
• Familiarity with distributed systems and edge-device computation
• Solid programming skills, proficiency in Python, and more specifically, PyTorch
• Strong mathematical background and a passion for designing new algorithms

The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in research, help with mentoring Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, and ensure timely completion of the project’s milestones. In addition, the candidate is expected to attend the project’s quarterly PI meetings and present their work.

The appointment starts in Fall 2021 and is for one academic year. Renewal for a second year is contingent on the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, acceptable progress in carrying out the assigned duties, and mutual agreement.
