Biomedical Engineering

The Bowden Laboratory for Biomedical Optics, as part of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Vanderbilt Biophotonics Center, develops optical imaging and sensing technologies for clinical and basic science applications, with additional interest in the development of low-cost and portable technologies for low-resource environments. We seek a new postdoc with expertise in optics and image processing to join our lab for an exciting project to poised to make a major impact in the medical fields of ophthalmology and pediatrics.

The proposed project involves development of a novel, low-cost hardware system to perform optical coherence tomography (OCT). The lab has longstanding expertise in OCT and we have work targeting various clinical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in optical design, construction of optical systems and image processing as well as be creative, independent and highly motivated and independent. Prior experience in the field of OCT other form of advanced optical microscopy is an additional plus. Positions are available immediately.
