Dr. Matthew Berger is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on topics at the intersection of data visualization and interpretable machine learning. The successful applicant will develop novel visualization methods for interactively exploring deep learning-based models, specifically (1) the representations learned by such models, and (2) model predictions. An emphasis will be placed on the interpretability of modern computer vision and natural language processing models.

The applicant should be proficient in visualization design. Specifically, they should be skilled in the development of interactive visualization interfaces, as well as have prior experience in designing and conducting user studies. Further, the applicant should have a sufficient background in machine learning, with experience in model interpretability. Preference will be given to applicants who have published in top-tier venues within the areas of visualization, human-computer interaction, and machine learning.

The applicant must have completed a PhD within Computer Science by the start of the position. The position will initially be for one year, with an additional one-year extension, pending satisfactory review. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's background, experience, and qualifications.
