The Gama Laboratory (https://lab.vanderbilt.edu/gama-lab/) and the Bellan Laboratory (https://my.vanderbilt.edu/bellanlab/) at Vanderbilt University seek an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to work on an NIH-funded BRAIN initiative project focused on improving induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived brain organoid systems by establishing gradients of morphogens and mimicking the contribution of supportive tissues to human cortical development.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative candidate with a Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, cell biology, developmental biology, mechanical engineering, or related field. Previous experience in one or more of the following technical areas is required: iPSC cell culture and characterization, iPSC-derived three-dimensional cell culture, advanced microscopy, microfluidics and/or biomaterials. Must possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to contribute in a multidisciplinary team setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills required, as is the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

The successful candidate will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, spend their time equally in the Gama and the Bellan labs, and must be interested and motivated to learn techniques from a wide range of fields. Flexibility to pursue research in areas of interest, to apply for grants and fellowships, and to develop independent research directions is encouraged.
