Position Detail

Postdoctoral Position in Optical Imaging and Image-Guided Surgery in Ophthalmology

Biomedical Engineering

The Diagnostic Imaging and Image-Guided Interventions Lab (PI: Kenny Tao) at Vanderbilt University is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position to develop novel technologies to visualize and quantify structural and functional changes in the retina during ophthalmic surgery. Previous system implementations included combinations of OCT and reflectance confocal imaging with machine-learning based tracking algorithms. Additional functionality to be integrated include OCT angiography, OCT elastography, and augmented-reality feedback.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering and a strong background and publication record in optical engineering, electronics, and hardware design/translation. Previous experience with OCT, ophthalmic imaging, and C/C++/CUDA/machine-learning is preferred but not required.

Environment:
This project is a collaboration between the DIIGI-Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and ophthalmologists at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute. Candidates will have the opportunity to interact closely with investigators across Vanderbilt University, including the Biophotonics Center, Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Vanderbilt University is an equal opportunities employer. Start date is flexible. Initial appointment will be for one year with opportunity for renewal.

Applicants should email Kenny Tao with a CV, complete list of publications, and contact information for three references.
