Electrical Engineering

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Medical-image Analysis and Statistical Interpretation (MASI) Lab at the intersection of high-performance computing, medical imaging processing (cardiac and pulmonary and computed tomography). The MASI Lab concentrates on analyzing large-scale cross-sectional and longitudinal neuroimaging data. Specifically, we are interested in population characterization with machine learning / deep learning with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), multi-parametric studies (DTI, sMRI, qMRI), and shape modeling.

We are seeking candidates who are interested in conducting these studies through image analysis, theoretical model development, statistical research, and informatics explorations. The successful candidates should

  • Be creative and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary group with physicians, physicists, physiologists, and engineers.
  • Have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required, and mentorship of more junior researchers will be important.
  • Have proven experience with scientific programming with Python (with PyTorch or TensorFlow) is mandatory.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to multitask are also essential.
  • Have an interest in medically oriented signal processing and technologies to improve patient care is a must.

E-mail an application to Bennett Landman with the subject “[Postdoc Application]”. Include:

  • A brief cover letter that states the overall goals and motivation for applying
  • A curriculum vitae (including a list of publications)
  • A single document containing a brief statement of past research accomplishments (1 page) and a proposal of research to be conducted at the DSI (2 pages)
  • Contact information for three individuals who can provide a letter of reference
