Position Detail

Postdoc Position in Vanderbilt Multiscale Modeling and Simulation (MuMS) Center

Chemical and Biomedical Engineering

Applications are invited for an open postdoctoral position in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University. The successful applicant will perform molecular dynamics simulations of biological membranes in the research group of Professor Clare McCabe. The group is housed in the multidisciplinary Vanderbilt Multiscale Modeling and Simulation (MuMS) Center. The successful candidate will perform both atomistic and coarse grained simulations of mixed lipid systems to examine composition/structure/function relationships.

Vanderbilt is an internationally recognized research university that offers undergraduate programs as well as a full range of graduate and professional degrees. The combination of cutting edge research, liberal arts, and a distinguished medical center creates an invigorating atmosphere where students tailor their education to meet their goals, and researchers collaborate to solve complex problems affecting our health, culture and society. Vanderbilt is now ranked 14th nationally (2018) and worldwide the 10th innovative university in 2017. Vanderbilt is an independent, privately supported university. The campus is a park-like setting, with more than 300 tree and shrub varieties, and was designated a national arboretum in 1988. Vanderbilt's hometown of Nashville is a vibrant, engaging city known proudly as "Music City, U.S.A." The city was settled in 1779 and permanently became the state capital in 1843. The city proper is 533 square miles with a population of nearly 690,000. Nashville typically enjoys a mild and pleasant climate with only a few days of very hot or very cold conditions each year. Nashville has been named one of America's friendliest cities for three years in a row.

This position will begin as soon as a candidate is successfully identified, and will be initially for one year with the possibility of renewal for additional years subject to satisfactory performance.

Qualifications
The candidate should have a strong background in molecular simulation, with experience in molecular dynamics simulations essential. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in a science or engineering field, with demonstrated potential for exceptional research.

Applications will be accepted on Interfolio (https://apply.interfolio.com/64794)

Inquiries about the position should be directed to Professor Clare McCabe.

Applications should include a complete CV and the names and contact information (including email addresses) of at least three references.
