Position Detail

Postdoc position immediately available in Neuroimaging/Neuroscience

Neurology

A postdoctoral position is available in the Neurology Department, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, to support and extend studies in the fields of cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging. The candidate will join a collaborative group whose focus is in understanding the biological basis of impulsivity, applying multimodal imaging (MRI and PET) techniques and cognitive assessments of motor and affective function in humans with neurodegenerative disorders.

Initial research directions include:

  • Oversee cognitive and neuroimaging studies in patient populations
  • Develop post-processing pipelines for experimental cognitive tasks
  • Investigate methods that combine cognitive, multimodal imaging, and clinical measures, to characterize relevant behavioral properties, and therapeutic outcomes
  • Publication and presentation of study results

The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop self-directed research in collaboration with members of the Neurology Department, Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS), and other labs within Vanderbilt University. Our lab fosters close interactions between neuroscientists, physicists, engineers, and clinicians. Therefore, we are looking for a candidate with a desire to interact with scientists of diverse backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree with an emphasis on cognitive neuroscience and prior experience with neuroimaging techniques.

Interested candidates should submit a CV, statement of research background and interests, and names of references to: Daniel O. Claassen, M.D., M.S.
