Position Detail

Postdoctoral position available to study diagnosis and consequences of noise exposures in animal models

Department of Hearing & Speech Sciences

A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, to study the effects of noise induced hearing loss in nonhuman primates. The position involves performing behavioral measurements, non-invasive electrophysiological characterization (Auditory Brainstem Responses, Distortion Product OtoAcoustic Emissions, Middle Ear Muscle Reflexes), and invasive single unit neurophysiological measurements. Participation in studies of therapeutic interventions is also possible. The position begins in August 2018.

The candidate would have a doctoral degree (PhD) in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or Hearing and Speech Sciences/Audiology. Experience with two of the three measurement modalities is strongly recommended. Experience working with animals is a huge plus. MATLAB or Python programming ability is also desired. The ability to work independently and in a group setting is preferred

Compensation will be provided at the NIH salary scale for postdoctoral fellows, based on years of postdoctoral experience.

Interested candidates should send a CV and the names of three references to Ramnarayan Ramachandran. All information sent by candidates and references will be kept strictly confidential. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
