Clinical-Research Post-Doctoral Position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, to investigate the structure and measurement of repetitive thinking in autism and in depression.
Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (VUMC)
We are seeking a highly motivated recent Ph.D. graduate with research experience in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), mood disorders, or affective neuroscience. This position provides an opportunity to join an NIMH-funded investigation of the structure and measurement of repetitive thinking in autism and in depression. Our lab focuses on cognitive and social reward processes as potential contributors to emotional health problems in autism, with the goal of informing targeted treatment development for adolescents and adults with ASD.
Training opportunities will be related to: diagnostic assessment of adults with ASD using standardized instruments; methods in psychophysiological data collection and analysis (EEG, pupillometry, and eye-tracking); producing mentored scientific articles and grant applications; and attendance of regular professional development seminars.
The successful applicant will be responsible for aspects of study coordination and team oversight. We have a particular interest in the postdoctoral associate producing research manuscripts for publication. If the associate is able to assist with clinical assessment, diagnosis, and report-writing, he/she/they will receive supervision that can be applied to license certification. Duties may span additional tasks and projects.
Requirements: Candidates must have a doctorate in clinical psychology, neuroscience, or a related field (degree must be conferred by September 1, 2018). Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, time management, and supervisory skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and within a team. Preference will be given to those with experience in clinical research in autism; psychophysiological and/or quantitative methods; standardized diagnostic assessment procedures; as well as candidates with a strong desire to lead independent projects and publish as a first author, and those able to make a multi-year commitment. Strong preference for those already eligible to work in the United States.

Applicants will be considered until the position is filled.
