Post-doctoral position studying DNA replication during development in Drosophila

The Nordman lab at Vanderbilt University (nordmanlab.com) is excited to announce a newly-available post-doctoral position. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with interests in the following areas: DNA replication, replication fork progression, replication timing and genome stability. Our lab uses the powerful developmental systems available in Drosophila melanogaster to understand how the DNA replication program is regulated during development to ensure genome stability. We are particularly focused on understanding how replication fork composition, progression and stability are regulated during development. We use highly interdisciplinary approaches including; proteomics, genomics, genetics, biochemistry and cell biology to address these fundamental issues in genome biology.

The Nordman lab is NIH-funded and housed within the Department of Biological Sciences and is part of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. At Vanderbilt University, we have access to numerous world-class research cores, including the Mass Spectrometry Research Center, Vanderbilt Technologies for Advanced Genomics and a Nikon Center of Excellence. Vanderbilt University is a top international research institute located in Nashville, which is a diverse and vibrant city ranked as one of the best in the US to live and work. Successful applicants can expect a stimulating research environment at Vanderbilt, which houses numerous labs with interests in DNA replication and repair.

Applicants should possess, or be a candidate for, a Ph.D in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or related discipline, and should have at least one published or forthcoming first author publication. Applicants are expected to be highly motivated, possess good communication skills and have a proven publication record. Applications from international scholars are welcome.

To apply, email Jared Nordman at jared.nordman@vanderbilt.edu. Applications should include 1) a cover letter describing research interests; 2) a CV and; 3) contact information for three professional references.
