Democracy's Proving Ground » vetvillage-425

Located along Capers and 19th avenues, Veterans Village housed more than 300 people—veterans and their families who came to Peabody for education on the G.I. Bill after World War II. The 50 prefabricated apartments and 18 single efficiency apartments were moved from a military base in Georgia and also contained a grocery, laundry and nursery school.
