Interim Period Housing Information

General Information

Interim Break Period: November 23 – January 21

Residence halls close for the fall 2020 semester on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 9AM CST.

The following students are welcome to submit an application to remain in on-campus housing during the interim period:

  • International students with travel/visa issues
  • Students who meet the Tennessee definition of homelessness
  • Student athletes in competition
  • Peabody College students pursuing teaching licensure

Students graduating in December 2020, and students who will not return to Vanderbilt for in-person learning for the spring 2021 semester, are not eligible for housing during the interim housing period.

The charge for interim housing will be $54.90 per day.  The university always supports residential students with demonstrated financial need, and will provide support through our normal mechanisms (financial aid, waivers, hardship fund grants, etc.) to students who are approved to remain in on-campus housing and have financial challenges over the extended break.

Interim Housing Application

The Interim Housing Application will be available in the Housing Portal for eligible students between October 15, 2020 at 8AM CST and November 15, 2020 at 11:59PM CST.  Applications will be processed on a rolling basis, and students who apply by November 15, 2020 will be contacted regarding the status of their application no later than Wednesday, November 17, 2020 at 5PM CST.

Students approved to remain on-campus may be required to relocate to another residence hall for this period at the discretion of the Office of Housing and Residential Experience.  Additional details will be available at a later date for students approved to remain in on-campus housing.

Students denied to remain on campus may submit an appeal here.
