2021 Summer Housing

General Information

Summer 2021 on-campus housing will be available to the following students:

  • Students participating in faculty-led experiential learning and in-person research activities, such as Immersion Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt Undergraduate Summer Research Programs (VUSRP)
  • Student athletes in competition/training
  • International students with travel, internet, or visa issues
  • Students who meet the Tennessee definition of homelessness

Students graduating in May 2021 and students who withdraw from the university during the spring semester are not eligible for Summer 2021 on-campus housing.  Students who need assistance identifying housing in the Nashville area are welcome to utilize the Off-Campus Housing Service.

Students approved to reside on-campus for the Summer 2021 will be housed in apartments on Highland Quad (Morgan, Lewis, and Chaffin Place.) If capacity is reached in the quad housing, traditional single and double rooms in additional on-campus residence halls will be made available. Students with mutual roommate requests will be given priority for assignment to Highland Quad apartments.

Please review the myVU announcement for additional information.

Summer Housing Application

The Summer Housing Application will be available in the Student Housing Portal on April 1.  All students who meet the above criteria will be offered housing.  Students who do not qualify will be contacted.  Applications should be submitted no later than April 30 at 5 p.m. CDT.

Students are permitted to request up to two (2) roommates.  Only mutual roommate requests will be considered.

Summer housing will be available beginning May 12.  Students residing in summer housing who are not residing on-campus for the Fall 2021 semester must vacate no later than 12 p.m. noon CDT July 31.

Students moving directly from their spring on-campus room assignment to summer housing will be contacted in early May with additional instructions.  Students will remain in their current spring 2021 housing assignment until instructed to move.  Students should be prepared to move by May 12, or when their summer housing assignment is ready for occupancy.

Information regarding moving to fall assignments will be available in late July.  Students who check out of summer housing prior to when OHARE begins permitting students to transition to their fall housing assignments will be required to completely vacate their space, and will not be permitted to move into their Fall 2021 housing assignment until upper-division student move-in (dates TBA).

The 2021 summer housing rate is $51.50 per night beginning May 12.

COVID-19 Protocols

Despite encouraging progress in addressing the pandemic, we must continue to take COVID-19 protocols seriously to help protect the health and safety of our campus and Nashville communities as much as possible.

All Vanderbilt students residing in summer on-campus housing will be required to participate in the university’s mandatory asymptomatic COVID-19 testing and contact tracing programs and submit a signed acknowledgement form.

Students should regularly check the Return to Campus website for ongoing updates about the university’s pandemic response and protocols.  Please direct questions to the dedicated helpline at 615-322-4357.
