Weekends of Service
What will you do to make a difference this year?
Fall Weekend of Service
The Fall Weekend of Service provides an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to engage with the Nashville community through service projects with local nonprofits and community partners. Service projects throughout Nashville will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 22-24, and together will make a meaningful impact with our local community.
Service opportunities that are registered with and approved by OACS are eligible for GME and MVE credit. Registered and approved service opportunities are also eligible to apply for a limited amount of grant funding to support the service opportunity.
If you would like help in planning a project, please let OACS know. Email email@example.com, call (615) 343-7878, or stop by Rand 305 anytime.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the weekend before the Martin Luther King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. The Office of Active Citizenship and Service and Dean of Students sponsor service projects in conjunction with Vanderbilt student service groups, residential houses, and other campus departments, programs, and groups in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his inspirational spirit of service. You and your service organization, friends, and fellow students have the opportunity to start the year off strong by making an impact in your community this January.
The 2018 MLK Joint Weekend of Service will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018. The kick off will be held at Fisk University.
