Frequently Asked Questions
When is the deadline to make a 2019–20 annual gift?
To be an NCC member for 2019–20, please make your annual gift to the NCC by June 30, 2020.
How is my annual gift to the NCC used?
A gift to the NCC annual fund helps provide scholarship support for our 350 Vanderbilt student-athletes. Scholarship expenses include tuition, books, room and board, and much more.
How is my NCC annual gift different from an Excellence Fund gift?
Your gift to the NCC annual fund directly benefits our student-athletes through scholarship support. Due to rising scholarship costs, it’s important that donors like you continue investing in the NCC annual fund. By making a sport-specific gift, you may directly support an individual sport.
Will my gift to the NCC count toward premium seating benefits?
No. As of January 1, 2018, any contribution made on or after that date for which a benefit is provided (in this case, the right to purchase athletic tickets) is no longer tax-deductible. Prior to the tax law change, these gifts were 80 percent tax-deductible. The previously required National Commodore Club (NCC) donation tied to seating and parking that you are used to paying is now reflected as a Premium Fee that is non-deductible. Is my gift tax-deductible?
Your gift is tax-deductible, as it is not associated with the right to buy tickets. NCC gifts do however factor into the awarding of NCC priority points, which offer donors a priority place in line to purchase tickets. Please contact your tax adviser concerning the tax deductibility of your gift.
Are there other giving opportunities within the NCC?
Yes! The NCC annual fund is the main source of scholarship funds, so we encourage you to begin giving by supporting the annual fund. You can also support Vanderbilt Athletics through sport-specific, capital, endowment and planned giving.
