I have my students watch a youtube cooking video in the target language on Edpuzzle.com. I use Edpuzzle because it allows me to embed comprehension questions.

After watching the video, students brainstorm a simple recipe that they would like to explain. They log on to our class’s google doc to contribute to a useful vocabulary list. Students then use the provided chart to plan their recipe. They should list ingredients and the steps for preparation using commands.

After planning their recipe, students log on to the Flipgrid website and use the Flipgrid code provided by their instructor. They should speak for 1 to 3 minutes. When finished, they should reply to the videos made by 2 other classmates using gustar and the chapter vocabulary.

COPYRIGHT & CREDIT

Melanie Forehand

Vanderbilt University

August 9, 2019

This lesson asks students to use Flipgrid, Youtube videos, and Google docs to produce their own cooking video.
