2018 Spring Orientation

Spring Orientation Schedule AVAILABLE NOW!

A tentative schedule for Spring Orientation is now available online. Please download the Spring Orientation Guide for a detailed list of programs. Sessions are tentative and are subject to change.

Don’t forget to complete the Pre-Arrival Form to utilize our Lyft services!

 Undergraduate Move-in

When: Thursday, January 4th | 8 am-8 pm

Where: Branscomb Lobby Front Desk

There will be a check-in table where you can pick up your room keys and Commodore Card* (if you uploaded your photos prior to arrival.) There will be iLEAD mentors available who can assist you with moving your luggage into your rooms. Additionally, linen packages may be purchased and picked up upon check-in.

PLEASE NOTE: The ISSS office, as well as other university offices and departments, will be closed from Friday, December 22 through Monday, January 1 for Winter Break. Please be mindful of closing hours when scheduling your arrival to Nashville.

If you have an immediate need to speak with an advisor while the office is closed, please contact the Vanderbilt University Operator at 615-322-7311.


Commodore Card

Students can submit their photos online for their Commodore Cards prior to arrival on campus. Prior to doing so, they must first set up their VUnetIDs. Photos will appear in class rosters, so please submit a professional-like photo. For guidelines on what kind of photos to submit, click commodore-card-photo-submission-guidelines-2016 to read more. To submit your Commodore Card photo, please:

  1. Login using your new VUnetID and password at: https://cco-web.mc.vanderbilt.edu/login/ldap.php
  2. Select “Submit ID Photo.” Crop and Edit as needed before selecting Submit for approval.
  3. Contact commodorecard@vanderbilt.edu with any questions.

Mandatory Immigration Check-In Support Sessions

All new undergraduate and graduate students are required to attend one of the offered Check-in Support sessions during the week of orientation. These 2-hour sessions are led by iLEAD mentors and staff and will give you an opportunity to visit the ISSS Office, update your immigration documents, create your Commodore Card (if you need to), and listen to a helpful presentation on setting up your essentials in the U.S. No prior sign-ups are necessary, just attend the session that fits best with your schedule. **Please bring all immigration documents (e.g. passport, visa, DS-2019/I-20) with you. If you have dependents (F-2/J-2), please bring their documents also.**

*If you need to print a copy of your most recent I-94 record, visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

FREE Airport Pick-up (Jan. 2nd-7th only)

If you would like to request FREE Airport Pick-up with ISSS, please indicate that in the pre-arrival form. Free airport pick-up is available from January 2nd-January 7th. If you are unable to be picked up during the available shuttle times, you can request a taxi, Uber or Lyft to drop you off on campus, or schedule a shuttle pick up with local shuttle companies such as Inshuttle.

If you would like to use the Lyft service, please make sure to complete the following steps:

 

  1. Complete the Pre-Arrival Form fully; only completed forms will be approved.
  2. Download the Lyft app. *Must have valid U.S. phone number (activate the SIM Card provided, if needed) and a working credit card from any major bank.
    1. Receive your unique Lyft PROMO code from ISSS via email. Save the promo code to your Lyft app.
    2. Arrive in BNA Nashville airport.
    3. Request a Lyft ride.
    4. Arrive at your destination!

iLEAD Mentor

Prior to your arrival to campus, you will be assigned an iLEAD mentor who will lead a group of new students during orientation week. iLEAD mentors will be able to assist you with any questions you may have about Vanderbilt, Nashville or the United States, and can be one of your first friends here on campus!

Linen Packages

ISSS has linen packages available for new students upon arrival. Packages include sheets, a pillow, a fleece blanket and a towel and are $40 USD. Students may pay at check-in on Move-in day.  If you would like to purchase a linen package, please indicate “yes” on the Pre-Arrival Form. Linen packages will be available for pick-up during check-in; Undergraduate students who have opted to purchase a package will have them delivered to their residence halls prior to arrival.
