Investors of Tomorrow
Overview
The Office of Investments manages Vanderbilt University’s endowment by allocating to world-class managers and direct investment opportunities across geographies, sectors, and asset classes. Our mission is to protect and grow Vanderbilt’s endowment by delivering outstanding long-term investment returns for the benefit of research and scholarship. The endowment provides approximately $2.8 billion in financial aid to students and funding for programs, faculty, and operations.
Our Investors of Tomorrow Internship Program program is focused on engaging and developing students who are interested in finance. Our goal is to provide them with an opportunity to learn about investing and empower them to pursue careers in the financial industry. By strategically providing opportunities to people who are committed to diversity in this space, we hope to contribute to bridging the gender investment gap.
The Role
The internship will be a paid, part-time position, offered during Spring and Fall semesters. The learning experience will be similar to our summer internship program. The Investors of Tomorrow intern will support either the public or private investments team in determining short- and long-term allocation targets, uncovering and performing diligence on prospective investment managers, and monitoring either the private or public portfolio, both in aggregate and at the manager level.
- The public team covers global equities, hedge funds, commodities, and fixed income
- The private team covers venture capital, private equity, natural resources, and real estate
Interns participate in the entire manager selection process, which begins with identifying potentially skilled investors and proceeds through meetings and calls, due diligence, market, and risk analysis, and should an investment be made, regular conversation and portfolio analysis. The broad scope of the endowment’s work means that no two internships will be the same but guarantees that interns will leave with broad exposure built through projects and daily tasks.

The internship is offered during both Spring and Fall semesters. Sophomores from all majors at Vanderbilt that meet the criteria are eligible to apply.
