Intramural Schedule

Registrations can be completed at the Office of Campus Recreation from 9 am -€“ 5 pm Mon. -€“ Fri. Each house-€™s vice president will be responsible for assisting the Office of Campus Recreation in promoting and registering teams for both the Commons sporting events and intramural sports. There is a $10 Guest Pass for non-student and non-rec center members.

Nutrition Minute

Nutrition minute will be held at the Recreation and Wellness Center once a week. We will be giving you quick information on ways to maintain healthy eating. Feel free to stop in for a few min. or stay the whole time. This Week join Marilyn Holmes MS, RD, LDN in the Demo Kitchen anytime between 1pm-2pm Tues. Feb. 25th for -€˜Heart Healthy Snacks on the Run-€™.

Smoothie King Opened back up Jan. 6th

Beginning January 6th, Smoothie King will include salads, snacks, gluten-free and vegan baked goods. Look for Bongo Java Coffee coming soon.

Basketball Court Reservations

Basketball court reservations must now be done upstairs in the Offices of Campus Recreation  Monday through Friday 8:30am until 5:00 PM. All participants must  be VU students or current VRWC member(s). Guests  must be sponsored and pay a $10.00 guest fee (photo ID required). VU ID card and/or VRWC membership card is required for entrance into the VRWC and its facilities.

Fitness Assessments

Fitness Assessments are performed by professional staff of the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.

  • Appointments for Fitness Assessments must be made at least 24 hours prior.
  • Hours available for Fitness Assessments in the  Recreation and Wellness  Center are limited, so honoring appointments is important.
  • Appointments may last up to one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Appointments can be scheduled between the hours on 6 am – 5 pm Mon through Thu
  • Participants will receive a personalized report of your current  fitness status and recommendations for improvement, if needed

Fitness Assessments evaluate several different areas of fitness:

  • Cardiovascular Fitness: Resting Heart Rate and Bike Test. The participant-€™s resting heart rate is taken at the start of the assessment to evaluate cardio effectiveness.   This test will determine the participant-€™s level of oxygen consumption.
  • Muscular Strength and Endurance: Hand Grip and Abdominal Crunch Tests. The participant does as many  crunches as comfortably possible. Both men and women must do crunches, and not full sit-ups.
  • Flexibility: Sit and Reach Test. Participant sits on the floor and stretches as comfortably as is possible.
  • Body Composition: Bio-electrical impedance or Infrared technology will be used to determine body fat.
  • Body Mass Index can be figured using the participant-€™s weight, height, and body frame size.

Fitness Center Orientation

A fitness orientation is scheduled by appointment only with a fitness attendant to give you the opportunity to learn about the exercise machines and free weights. If you are unfamiliar with the machines, the fitness attendants will help you set them up and teach you how to properly use the equipment. Fitness Orientations are FREE to students and members of the VRWC .

Rec Cross / CPR / 1st Aid / AED Class Dates

Last class for the spring semester is Sun., Mar 16th

Cost: $120 / person

*Each student will receive a Rec Cross certificate upon passing the class.
*Must register by 5 pm on the Thursday before the class in the Office of Campus Recreation.
