Sarah Nerad is a young person in long-term recovery since 2007. She has made it her life purpose to create the same opportunities that she had to enter and sustain recovery for other young people across the country. She graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Community, Family and Addiction Services. Sarah was one of the founding members of YPR | Young People in Recovery, a national advocacy organization for youth recovery. She also started her own consulting company, PTR Associates. Sarah left graduate school in Boston to work in the Student Wellness Center and start OSU’s collegiate recovery community and recovery house. She is planning on attending graduate school at OSU in the fall for her Master’s in Public Administration. By sharing her recovery story with us at Vanderbilt, Sarah continues her mission to  dispel common myths about drug use among young people. Sarah shows that young people can have a legitimate problem with drugs and alcohol – and that it is never too early to entry recovery.

This event is in partnership with Vanderbilt Recovery Support, Wellness Programs & Alcohol Education, and Blue Community.
