McTyeire Fireside Chat: “IKEBANA – The Japanese Art of Flower Arrangements” By Hideko Shimizu, Senior Lecturer in Japanese After recounting a brief history of Ikebana, Prof. Shimizu will demonstrate a few arrangements of the Sōgetsu School, that was founded in 1927.The philosophy of the Sōgetsu School advocates that Ikebana should be part of a lifestyle, appreciated by many people from all over the world, rather than being considered an exclusive aspect of Japanese culture.
