Applications Now Open for the Spring 2018 Local OACS DIVE Project!

Applications are now open for the 2018 cohort of Local OACS DIVE: Empathizing with the Lived Experience of Refugees. This program combines human-centered design thinking with service-learning alongside Catholic Charities, the Nashville Center for Empowerment, and ESL-To-Go.

Student participants in the DIVE cohort will engage in a highly immersive service-learning partnership with a local resettlement or refugee services agency to better understand the lived experience of refugees in the Nashville community.

Following a brief introduction to the causes of human displacement and the resettlement process, student participants will also participate in a biweekly seminar series that immerses them in the Nashville community to better understand refugees’ access to affordable housing, health care, education, cultural preservation, and advocacy.

For more information on the program and how to apply, please visit the OACS website.
