Eco-Dores education program encourages student environmental stewardship and sustainability on campus

It-€™s easy to be green at VU!   The Sustainability and Environmental Management Office (SEMO) and the Dean of Students Office are teaming up for the third year of the undergraduate student Eco-Dores sustainability peer education program!   Undergraduate students from every residence hall on campus are being recruited to volunteer to serve as -€œEco-Dores,-€ or environmental mentors for their fellow students.

Volunteers will participate in a monthly educational event about a sustainable topic, such as energy conservation, water conservation and sustainable food, and brainstorm actions that they could implement in their own residence hall. The goal is that residents of each hall will find their own way to respond to the theme and their own best solutions.   Eco-Dores are expected to commit 5- 10 service hours each month.   They will also become sustainability leaders among their peers, learn more about how Vanderbilt University and large institutions work, meet new people, and gain valuable leadership and facilitation experience.
