Outdoor Recreation Adventure Trips

Hike & Splash: Piney River Trail, TN. Saturday, Sept. 10th. Cost: $33. Sign up by Sept. 2nd.

Kayaking: Harpeth River, TN. Sunday, Sept. 11th. Cost: $33. Sign up by Sept. 2nd.

River Clean-Up (Canoeing): Harpeth River, TN. Sunday, Sept. 18th. FREE. Sign up by Sept. 9th.

Camping & Hiking: Bells Bend Park, TN. Friday-Saturday Sept. 23-24. Cost: $33. Sign up by Sept 16th.

 

Oct. 6 – 9 (Thu -€“ Sun)

BACKPACKING: Great Smoky Mountain National Park, TN/NC

Cost:  $115   Sign-up by: Friday, Sept. 23  Pre-Trip Meeting:  Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 5 pm

It-€™s a relatively long drive, but this park is worth it!  Plan on backpacking 5-7 miles-a-day of up, down, and around the beautiful, colorful, Smoky Mountains.  Specific trails have not yet been determined, but plan on car-camping Thur. night and then backpacking Fri. -€“ early Sun.  Hiking boots are advised.  Estimated trip duration:  10 am Thur. -€“ 6 pm Sun. Cost includes all transportation, in-camp food, group equipment, permits, and camping fees.

 

Dec. 17 – 22 (Sat – Thu)

SKIING and/or SNOWBOARDING: Steamboat Springs, CO

Cost: $1,054 for the VU all the Way package, $721 to Meet us in Denver, OR $545 to Meet us at the Condo

Sign-up by:  Tue, Oct. 11 (SAVE $75 if you sign up by Fri. Sept. 30!!) Pre-Trip Meeting:  Wed, Oct. 26 at 6 pm

Join us for our 16th annual semester break ski/snowboard trip!  The price includes air (RT: Nashville to Denver) and  bus transportation to our condo, 5 nights lodging, and a 4-day lift ticket to Steamboat Springs, Ski Town USA, with 165 named trails and 16 lifts.    We will be staying in the Lodge Condominiums, located 200 yards from the slopes.    These large condos have the usual, plus free wifi and laundry facilities on the premises.  There is also an indoor hot tub, two outdoor hot tubs, and an outdoor heated swimming pool.  We have more ski trip info on the web. To sign up for a trip, come to the Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC), located on 2600 Children’s Way, kind of behind the Student Rec Center, and pay a deposit or the full amount of the trip.  The ORC accepts cash, check, and the Vanderbilt Commodore Card.  For more info on trips, workshops, and equipment rentals, check out the web at  http://www.vanderbilt.edu/outrec
