Each May, whether you are ready or not, the residence halls close and you head back home thinking you can’t stay on campus this summer. You can stay on the Vanderbilt campus this summer engaged in one of the best jobs on campus working on the Conference and Event Management Team. This experience provides behind the scenes understanding, enjoying Nashville, making new friends while receiving on campus housing, a meal plan and a competitive per hour pay for 40 hours a week.

The Conference & Event Coordinator (“CEC”) is an integral part of the Office of Conferences’ staff. The CEC position is responsible for the daily success of the ever-expanding conference program. The CEC responds to the needs of the visiting conference guests and event groups. The CEC is involved in every aspect of the conference program – from general program preparation to specific program requirements and/or needs of each individual groups and/or sports camps. The Vanderbilt University Office of Conferences is seeking motivated individuals to help create a seamless Conference and Event Management Team. Our goal is to provide the highest level of customer service in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. Our Offices serves as guest relations, and a liaison between campus facilities and services. CEC’s are involved in every aspect of conferences, camps and the academic intern housing program; assisting with all details of conference preparation, arrival/departure, check-in/outs, key distribution, conference meals and a resource coordinator.

CEC’s provide campus resources while hosting a diverse array of conference groups and summer camps right here on the Vanderbilt campus. Our summer guests include Computer Software Design Camps, Medical Center Symposiums, Teaching Seminars, Business Entrepreneurs, Programs for Talented Youth, Cheer Leading Enthusiasts, athletic camps, educational conferences and many more. Conference Services also provide accommodations for up to ten weeks for students from around the country participating in local summer internships and medical research partake in our Summer Academic Intern Housing Program.

While participating as a Conference and Event Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to gain leadership experience, enhance problem solving skills and serve as an essential member of a dynamic team working together to successfully host conferences and camps at Vanderbilt. The 2022 conference season will run from Wednesday, May 11, through Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Due to the nature of the position, staff may not hold another job, but can take one summer school class while employed as a CEC. Benefits include on campus housing, a competitive salary for a 40-hour per week, paid training, a summer meal plan and on campus housing accommodations in E. Bronson College Hall.
