While at Vanderbilt, Jared volunteers with Next Steps, a four-year higher education program for students with intellectual disabilities. Jared serves on both the executive board and as a student tutor because he believes in the dual impact of both organizational change and hands-on service. Through his service in Next Steps, Jared hopes to gain a deeper understanding of how to serve an underrepresented community as well as learn how to manage a socially responsible organization.

In the summer of 2021, Jared conducted his Ingram summer project with Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV), a nonprofit microfinance organization that supports female entrepreneurs. Jared became interested in working with WEV after researching the alarming levels of gender and racial inequality in the early-stage investing industry. He spearheaded WEV’s research for the creation of an early-stage investment fund solely focused on women-led companies that will help entrepreneurs in need of funding.

Jared is honored to be a member of the Ingram Scholars Program and hopes to utilize this opportunity to positively impact the Nashville community and our global society. In the future, Jared intends to develop and leverage his finance skills, entrepreneurial creativity, and passion for service as a means to address systemic societal issues.
