Class of: 2021
Hometown: Anchorage, Alaska
School: College of Arts and Science
Major(s): History and Biological Sciences

Growing up in Alaska has given Adam a deep appreciation of nature and the outdoors, as well as an understanding of rural and nontraditional lifestyles. His background as an Alaskan provides him with a unique perspective on family, culture, and community, and makes for occasionally interesting dinner conversation.

Adam has worked and continues to work with several Nashville organizations that address a wide range of community issues. Adam frequently volunteers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Project C.U.R.E., organizations that both strive to provide medical care to those in need. Adam also volunteers as a chess tutor and a health education tutor at Nashville primary schools.

The summer after his sophomore year, Adam completed his Ingram summer project in his home state, partnering with Special Olympics Alaska to design and direct summer programs for intellectually disabled youth. Once he graduates from Vanderbilt, Adam plans on attending medical school, and, eventually, becoming a physician that specifically caters to patients with intellectual disabilities. On campus, Adam is a resident adviser and captain of the club soccer team. Outside of service and philanthropy, Adam is passionate about his studies, chess, soccer, and comedy.

Adam is continually amazed by the remarkable Ingram Scholars that surround him. He will always be grateful to them, as well as to the Ingram family and to the professors and staff members that run the program. As a senior, Adam wants to be available as a resource not only to the Nashville community, but also to the Ingram Scholar community that has provided so much for him.
