Immersion Vanderbilt

Immersion Vanderbilt is an academic initiative that requires every undergraduate student to participate in an intensive learning experience. Students explore an experiential learning pathway and complete a culminating project. Immersion faculty and staff advisers assist students every step of the way. The program helps students explore their passions, transform ideas into action, and make a difference in the world.

Yes! A network of resources across the university gives students the option of engaging in Immersion Vanderbilt outside their home school/college, including in the professional schools.

The short answer is no. Immersion Vanderbilt does not ask students to do more work. But, they may have to work differently.

Vanderbilt students participated in immersive learning experiences well before Immersion Vanderbilt. Through Immersion Vanderbilt, students have access to a network of resources including the staff in the Office of Experiential Learning and Immersion Vanderbilt.

Yes!

Transfer students are allowed to transfer in with experiences that may count towards the completion of Immersion Vanderbilt requirements. Their Immersion faculty or staff adviser will decide what can be counted toward their ongoing Immersion plan at Vanderbilt. Students are not able to transfer in with a completed Immersion project.

Immersion Vanderbilt is flexible to allow students to complete the requirements in and beyond the classroom. Requirements may also be completed outside of the academic year.
