July 27, 2020 – OHARE provides housing move-in sign-up update

Posted by on Monday, July 27, 2020 in Community Messages.

Dear Student,

Due to unforeseen technical issues, the OHARE website and Student Housing Portal crashed earlier today. Although the OHARE website is now functional, the Student Housing Portal is running extremely slowly due to the volume. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

At the recommendation of our software vendor, we have decided to turn off move-in signups today and restart them tomorrow, Tuesday. To control the volume of users accessing the website simultaneously, we are scheduling move-in signups based on residence halls. If you were able to successfully complete the signup, you are not required to sign up again. Move-in signups will now take place over four distinct days this week. Please see the schedule below:

Tuesday, July 28:

Carmichael Towers 1 (First-Years), Carmichael Towers 2, Lupton, Scales, Stapleton, Vaughn, East and Crawford

Wednesday, July 29:

Gillette, Hank Ingram, Memorial, Murray, North, Stambaugh, Sutherland and West

Thursday, July 30:

Warren, Moore, E. Bronson Ingram, Cole, Tolman, McGill and McTyeire

Friday, July 31:

Morgan, Lewis, Mayfield, Nicholas S. Zeppos, Carmichael Towers (Upper Division) and Greek Houses

Residents will have access to the sign up only on their scheduled day between 9 a.m. CT and 5 p.m. CT. Because all residents of each residence hall have access to the website on the same day, all residents will have equal opportunity to select a move-in time regardless of the day they sign up.

As a reminder, scheduling your move-in appointment will be a two-step process on your scheduled day in the Student Housing Portal.

Step 1: Complete the Housing Contract Addendum under the Applications menu.

Step 2: Once your Housing Contract Addendum is submitted, you can select a move-in date and time under the “Room Assignments” section.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, we will re-open the signup for anyone who did not sign up on their scheduled day.

Again, we apologize for this unexpected difficulty. We know you are eager to confirm your move-in time, and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
