Students in this study center program in Kunming, the "City of Eternal Spring", explore the multicultural and outdoor nature of southwest China and study Chinese culture and language at the Middlebury School in China based at Yunnan University. The program accommodates intermediate to advanced Chinese learners and attract students who enjoy the freedom to shape their own learning. In a required one-on-one tutorial class, students dissect topics relating to China that they are passionate about. Students live with a Chinese roommate to strengthen their language skills and ties within the community. Frequently, students participate in outdoor activities with peers, students, faculty, and the community, and they go on organized excursions outside of the city to explore the natural world of southwest China.
