Career Corner
Workshops support seniors as they
transition from Vanderbilt
Some seniors may begin to experience feelings of anxiety and stress
about what comes next as graduation approaches. For some, these
feelings stem from not having a job offer, while other students may
feel anxious about what to expect at their first professional job.
The Center for Student Professional Development will host a series of
workshops during late March and early April to support seniors during
this time of transition. Seniors will learn how to network and create
connections, develop a job plan, leverage Vanderbilt services after
graduation, and how to be successful on the job as a new employee.
These workshops will be presented at various locations across campus
and are targeted to seniors, but any student can attend.
For more information about these workshops, including dates, times and
locations, visit our senior webpage at vanderbilt.edu/career/seniors.php.

Looking to volunteer
locally?
Are you interested in a
fun and creative way to get involved at home? We are looking for
parents who are interested in serving as hosts for Care Package
Parties. At these events, each parent who attends brings multiples of a
specific item and assembles a package for their student with all items
provided. This is a wonderful, informal opportunity to get to know
other parents of current students in your area, while compiling goodies
to send to your students as they are hard at work, preparing for exams.
If you would like to host a Care Package Party in your area, please
contact our office at parents@vanderbilt.edu.
To learn more about other volunteer opportunities, please visit our
website at vanderbilt.edu/families/volunteer.

March's most
frequently asked question: What resources are
available for students enrolled in pre-professional programs?
Students who are studying
pre-professional programs have the opportunity to seek out more
specialized support related to their degrees. In addition to resources
like the formal advising system, the Center for Student Professional
Development, and individual tutoring, pre-professional advising exists
for students studying in pre-architecture, pre-law, health care and teaching
programs. These advisers serve to offer more individual guidance
respective to these specific career paths.
