Student Affairs Comms E-Newsletter [Vanderbilt University]

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Dear PCC Colleagues,

Please see below for the most recent updates for the PCC to UCC transition.

UCC Director Search

We will continue our search for the UCC Director. Additional candidates will be invited to campus in the coming weeks, and we will inform you of the details as they develop.

Technology & Information Systems

  • VUIT staff reviewed current computers, video, and video-storage systems at the PCC.
  • Representatives from Printing Services will meet at the PCC to review PCC printers and copiers to determine UCC needs.

Training

The PCC completed a successful Post-Doc match for 2018-19. In addition to their clinical work at the UCC, these post-docs will be integrated into both the Peabody Human & Organization Department program for education purposes, and into the Office of Post-Doc Affairs (OPA) community.

Communications

  • News and Communications is working to draft a wordmark, possible taglines, and a promotional video centered on both the new UCC and the Student Care Network.
  • Possible taglines for the new Student Care Network are listed below. If you have a preference, submit your feedback to Kim Koon by no later than noon on Friday, March 23.
    • Connections for Wellbeing
    • Connecting You with Care
    • Helping you find the care you need
    • Your wellbeing, your care
  • Laura Walaszek Dermody is working with the Commodore Card Office to acknowledge the new UCC since the PCC is currently listed as a resource on the back of all ID cards.
  • Vice Provost Cyrus continued informative meetings with graduate, professional, and undergraduate students to discuss student concerns about privacy and communication strategies moving forward.

Medical Record Transfer

  • The VUIT team is working with PCC experts to develop an approach to identify appropriate records for transfer to the new UCC system.
  • VU leadership is continuing legal discussions regarding how to give appropriate notice to the student community for records transfer. We are continuing to develop a process by which students may opt out if they so desire.

Legal

  • Vanderbilt’s Office of the General Counsel has hired a lawyer specifically trained in HIPAA to assist in the PCC to UCC transition.
  • PCC staff and VU staff participated in a useful meeting with legal counsel from VUMC and VU regarding the differences of HIPAA and FERPA from a counseling center staff perspective. An outcome of this meeting is a priority for setting privacy policies in ways that will be transparent to students.
