FLiCX: Faculty-Led interactive Cinematic eXplorations

The Vanderbilt program in Cinema & Media Arts and the Office of the Dean of Students, in partnership with the historic Belcourt Theatre in Hillsboro Village, have developed an initiative to promote faculty-student conversations centered on foreign, independent, and classic films: FLiCX, or Faculty-Led interactive Cinematic eXplorations. The Office of the Dean of Students purchases tickets for students who agree to remain for the post-screening discussion.

International Lens is a film series with a global perspective that uses film screenings as a forum to promote conversation among Vanderbilt’s diverse community of students, faculty and staff. International Lens works to transcend geographic, ethnic, religious, linguistic and political boundaries by encouraging conversation and greater cross-cultural understanding through cinema. The series is a partnership between the Office of the Dean of Students, Cinema & Media Arts, and various other academic departments, centers, and programs.

Student Film Festival: the Vanderbilt Student Film Festival, which takes place late in the spring semester showcases student films. The festival is the product of a partnership between the program in Cinema & Media Arts and the Office of the Dean of Students.
