Find Your Anchor Buddy Program
Introducing the Dean of Students New Staff Buddy program. This program, which pairs a new staff with a veteran staff member, attempts to expand the new staff member’s circle of colleagues early on in their tenure at Vanderbilt, making them feel more at home within DOS as well as the broader Vanderbilt community.
If you are interested in being paired with a new staff member, please complete this form. The first wave of pairs will be made in the next week for our upcoming New Staff Orientation on Friday, December 14. Volunteers must have been in Dean of Students for at least one year.
What will I do as a buddy?
- Make e-mail or phone contact within first week of employment, offer to walk the new hire to the card office or to Baker for any necessary paperwork.
- Set-up a lunch/coffee date with another co-worker by the end of their first month
- Ask them to join you at an upcoming professional development program
- Follow-up with messages and/or lunches/coffee dates at three months and six months
- Alert them by e-mail of any special or notable upcoming events in which they might have interest (at Vanderbilt or in Nashville!)
- Attend the New Staff Orientation buddy lunch for all new staff and their buddies.
