Review: Todrick Hall

Posted by on Thursday, November 14, 2019 in 2017-2018 AY, 2019-2020 WW, Creative Campus Blog.

Whether you know him from his star-making turn on American idol, his viral YouTube musicals, any number of his Broadway productions, or his role as one of the head choreographers on Drag Race, Todrick Hall, is a consummate performer. And his high-kicking theatrics were on full display last night at The Cowan, where Hall and a team of dancers tore through a rousing performance of his House Party World Tour. Hall, who’s been a vocal advocate for LGBTQI+ rights, acknowledged the novelty of his position as a successful performance artist. And while he made no mention of the swirling controversies around his methods of employment, Hall did take the time to spotlight the careers of other LGBTQI+ performers that he encouraged attendees to support. If you’re interested in supporting local LGBTQI+ performers, you can pick-up a ticket to Third Coast Comedy’s She-Haw, a comedy drag show, or check out Now Playing Nashville to keep up with the abundance of queer talent frequenting Music City.
