DIVE into the Curb Scholars Workshop
This week the Curb Scholars were joined by DIVE (Design as an Immersive Vanderhttps://www.vanderbilt.edu/curbcenter/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=projectbilt Experience) members Bethany Pleas and Austin Avant. They led a workshop focused on human-centered design thinking. The scholars had to solve a problem using the 5 steps of design; Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. Students were assigned 1 of 3 groups with each group assigned a different subject. Each group interviewed a target consumer, then brainstormed solutions which addressed the consumer’s concerns before selecting one idea to prototype and present to the consumer. This activity allowed each Scholar to use selected materials and their innate creativity to make prototypes which answered the consumer’s design concerns.
