Curb Scholars Program

The Curb Scholars Program in Creative Enterprise and Public Leadership is a selective undergraduate scholarship for students who work at the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship, and public engagement.

Curb Scholars work together to apply creative problem-solving skills as they imagine and implement projects that engage the local community, as well as contributing to Vanderbilt’s creative community through independent endeavors and in workshops led by notable faculty, artists, and entrepreneurs. In their final year, Curb Scholars have the opportunity to develop a unique project that contributes to the vitality of the campus community.

Inspired by the career of Mike Curb—philanthropist, founder of Curb Records, and former lieutenant governor of California—the program aims to develop leaders committed to combining diverse perspectives and innovative techniques for the public good.

Curb Scholars are selected on the basis of commitment to creative ideas, an entrepreneurial spirit, strength of personal character, and leadership potential. In evaluating candidates, the Curb Scholar selection committee reviews the applicant’s Curb Scholarship application and Vanderbilt application for first-year admission.

Depending on the size of the total scholar group, rising sophomores may also accepted into the program. The application process for rising sophomores occurs during the spring semester.

For more information on the Curb Scholars program contact the Curb Center’s Associate Director, Molly Barth.
