Tamil is spoken in the far south eastern tip of India and the northern coast of Sri Lanka. It is also one of the official languages of Singapore. It is one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world, with proof of its existence dating back some 2,000 years. There are approximately 65 million speakers of Tamil in the world. Traces of Tamil writings have even been found as far back as the 1st Century BC, in Ancient Egypt!
