Javanese is the language spoken by inhabitants of the Indonesian island of Java. It is also spoken in Malaysia and surprisingly by quite a few people in Suriname (in South America!). The native tongue of more than 75 million people, it can be written in the unique Javanese or Arabic scripts. It can also be rendered with the Latin alphabet.
