Hungarian is a language spoken by more than 15 million people around the world. It is the official language of Hungary, and it is also spoken by people living in countries such as Austria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia (mainly in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina where it has official status), Slovakia, Slovenia, and the Ukraine. Hungarian is a Uralic Language and belongs to the Ugric branch, being closely related to the Mansi and Khanti languages of western Siberia. One of the distinguishing features of Hungarian is that it is an agglutinative language that uses affixes instead of prepositions to indicate the relationships between words. Nouns, for instance, can be declined into up to eighteen cases. Verbs have developed a complex conjugation pattern, with both definite and indefinite forms and prefixes to indicate direction of movement and completeness.
