The STEM Exploration Experience for Kids (SEEK) summer camp, offered through the Vanderbilt Collaborative for STEM Education and Outreach, gives students opportunities to engage with science topics in a fun and enriching way. Vanderbilt scientists serve as the counselors and guides for young minds through various topics in biology, chemistry, engineering, and health. This day camp provides kids with innovative and novel activities designed to excite, inspire, and satisfy the natural curiosity of children.

Summer 2020

Posted May 18th:
Salutations SEEKers, parents, and guardians,

Thank you to everyone that responded to our survey on alternative options for SEEK camp this summer. We appreciate your feedback and have heard your thoughts and concerns.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vanderbilt University has enacted actions and policies for a phased reopening of our campus and campus-sponsored events. This transition is limited to essential operations of Vanderbilt and will most likely take several months to complete. According to this plan, hosting an in-person Vanderbilt camp in July will be prohibited.

Furthermore, responses from the camp survey indicate a general disinterest in online or virtual camp activities. We understand this reasoning, as camps best serve as arenas of enriching experiences for students away from the comforts of home.

Due to all of this information, we regrettably suspend our SEEK camp operations for the summer of 2020. We sincerely apologize for how this unprecedented global outbreak has greatly affected you and your students’ summer plans. We are still planning to host SEEK camp in the summer of 2021, so look for the registration in January of next year.

Please email us at CSO@vanderbilt.edu to discuss SEEK camp reimbursement.

Thank you all for your interest in SEEK camp. Please keep us in mind as an option for engaging STEM exploration experiences for your students next year.

On behalf of the STEM Exploration Experiences for Kids camp program,

Desmond Campbell, Ph.D.
