David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center

On Feb. 7, we will reopen the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center with limited hours for undergraduate, graduate and professional students who are participating in in-person classes, informed by guidance from public health officials and experts at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Based on current campus guidelines and for the safety of our community, we do not intend to open the Alumni Hall and Common Center Gyms at this time.

Information about outside activities will be posted in the coming days.

Indoor Fitness Reservations

Reservations will begin 48 hours in advance and close one hour before the designated time. Reservations will open Friday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. All reservations will be able to be made on the Vandy Rec’s website. No walk-ups will be allowed for use of the center for indoor fitness.

Students will be allowed to either sign up to utilize the fitness/cardio equipment in the Aux Gym OR the dumbbells in the Free Weight Room.

The capacity per space is limited to seven students per hour.

Reservations will be on the hour and will last 45 minutes.

What to Bring:

  • Bring your ID, water bottle, phone and yourself.

What Not to Bring:

  • Please do not bring backpacks and/or gym bags.

Arrival:

  • Students will access the Vandy Rec from Children’s Way through the Outdoor Basketball Court.
  • Students will line up on the circles on the South entry.
  • Staff will coordinate student check-in.
  • Students can arrive five minutes prior to their workout block.

During your Workout:

  • Masks must be worn at all times indoors.
  • Students should manage their cardio intensity level with mask on.
  • Students must remain 10 feet apart while exercising.
  • Students must remain 6 feet apart while moving about.
  • Students must clean their equipment and space upon completion of their workout.

Leaving:

  • At the 45-minute mark, all students must leave promptly to allow the Vandy Rec to prepare for the next group.
  • Make sure to gather all items.
  • Return any equipment and clean your stations.
