University Relations

University Relations develops and executes strategic communications that advance the university’s priorities and promote engagement among its core, internal audiences: faculty, staff, students and alumni, donors and parents.

  • Leadership Communications provides strategic communications support for Interim Chancellor and Provost Susan R. Wente and the deans. Leadership Communications also establishes messaging framework to guide all communications; develops and executes communications plans for key initiatives; and serves as relationship manager for deans in advancing their school's priorities.

  • Internal Communications develops and executes effective faculty and staff communications that advance university priorities, build community, and empower faculty and staff to be ambassadors of the university. Internal Communications also manages and curates content for myVU, Vanderbilt University's faculty, staff and student news and information resource.

  • Donor and Alumni Strategies provides compelling and effective communications that builds engagement with the university among key audiences. This group works in partnership with Vanderbilt Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) to produce the university’s quarterly alumni publication, Vanderbilt Magazine. It also supports alumni editorial strategy for Vanderbilt schools and related divisions.

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Communications develops and executes communications strategies that advance understanding and awareness of the university’s initiatives in equity, diversity and inclusion and also the accomplishments and priorities of its students, faculty, staff and alumni. This area provides communications support for campus partners, including the Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Inclusive Excellence.

  • Academic Affairs Marketing Strategies provides marketing and communications support to colleges and departments on campus. This includes graduate enrollment marketing, rankings initiatives, campaign support and marketing strategy for colleges and individual programs.
