Federal Trademark Registration Symbol
Vanderbilt has an extensive portfolio of trademarks registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the federal trademark registration symbol (®) should be included when using these trademarks.
Examples include:

- Vanderbilt University®
- V Oak Leaf Design®
- Vanderbilt Commodores®
- Anchor Down®
- Anchor Design®
- Star V Design®
- Commodores®
- Vandy®
The circle R should always be present on promotional products, e.g., merchandise, hard goods, awards. However, the circle R may be omitted on products where the registration mark will be illegible (i.e., banners, flags and signs) and on official university stationery and letterhead. You may also omit the circle R when the university’s trademark/copyright statement (see below) is included on websites and printed materials such as posters and brochures.
TRADEMARK/COPYRIGHT STATEMENT
Use the following statement in print and web communications to protect our trademarks in cases where a federal registration mark (circle R) is not used.
Vanderbilt® and the Vanderbilt logos are registered trademarks of The Vanderbilt University.
