Article on Climate Migration Published in The Conversation
A new article published in The Conversation, written by Jonathan Gilligan (VU’s Dept of Earth and Environmental Sciences), Katharine Donato (Georgetown U., formerly chair of Sociology at Vanderbilt) and Amanda Carrico (U. Colorado Boulder, formerly a Ph.D. student and postdoc at VIEE) about climate change and the lack of national laws in place to assist migrants forced to leave their homes due to climate conditions. The article discusses the uncertainty in the current and future scale of the problem along with rethinking the role of disasters and environmental stresses as a driver of displacement.
