Student Policies 

The Career Center provides programs and services to support students with their individual professional pursuits. As a member of the campus community, we ask that students agree to be accountable for their actions as stated in the Vanderbilt University Community Creed, and engage in behavior that reflects a common set of values: scholarship, honesty, civility, accountability, caring, discovery, and celebration. 

All currently enrolled Vanderbilt undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in campus recruiting. 

Coaching Appointments: Cancellation and Late Arrival 

Students should arrive on time for scheduled appointments. Students who are unable to keep appointments should cancel at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Center at 615-322-2750 or emailing their coach. A student arriving more than 10 minutes late for a scheduled appointment, without contacting the Center in advance, may result in losing their appointment and needing to reschedule. 

Reneging on Offers 

If you have accepted an offer and the employer has confirmed their offer, you should cease all job search activities. Should a situation arise where reneging is a possibility, please contact our office and we will help with the process.

DoreWays: Job Posting Caution

The Center makes no representations about positions listed on its website, DoreWays, or Center listservs and it is not responsible for the safety, wages, working conditions, or other aspects of employment for you. It is your responsibility to conduct due diligence on opportunities that you find posted online and we encourage you to take necessary precautions when interviewing or accepting positions with an employer. No legitimate employer will send payment in advance and ask the employee to send a portion of it back. DO NOT provide any personal information especially social security numbers or financial information!

Cancelling an Interview 

You may cancel or reschedule an interview through the DoreWays system up to 48 hours (two business days) prior to the interview day. If you are experiencing an emergency, we encourage you to contact the Center via email and phone as soon as your situation allows. If you fail to attend a scheduled interview or cancel within two business days for a reason other than an emergency, your access to DoreWays will be blocked. In order to have full access status returned, you must arrange a meeting with a representative from the Career Center Coaching Team to discuss your actions and potential repercussions. 


Misrepresentation of any information provided to an employer may result in immediate suspension of Career Center services and may result in reporting to Student Accountability.
