Guide to the Kaltura Streaming Media Tool

Posted by on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Resources.

During the recent migration from OAK to Blackboard managed hosting, we very intentionally maintained the version of Blackboard we were using. This summer, we’ll upgrade to a newer version, but over winter break, our goal was improved performance, not new features.

However, we did add one new tool to Blackboard during the migration: Kaltura, a Blackboard building block that provides a variety of streaming video features. Instructors and students can use Kaltura to upload videos to Blackboard, create videos via webcam or screen capture, and share videos with teachers and students in particular courses.

To get started using Kaltura, please read our new Kaltura User Guide. Please be aware that any video uploaded to Blackboard should accord with Vanderbilt’s Copyright Policy for Blackboard. If you have questions about using Kaltura, please contact the Blackboard support team by email, blackboard@vanderbilt.edu.
