External Courses of Interest
Spring 2016
ACCRE high-performance computing (SC 3260/5260). Will French teaches a course on parallel programming and high-performance computing in a cluster environment. Students use the ACCRE cluster to complete assignments. The following topics will be covered:
- Linux command line
- C programming
- Compiling/building HPC software
- Multithreaded programming (Pthreads, OpenMP)
- Multiprocess programming (MPI)
- Programming for NVIDIA GPUs (CUDA)
- Programming for Intel Xeon Phi co-processors
Students will also have an opportunity at the end of the semester to apply these tools to accelerate a programming problem from their field. The class will meet MWF 9:10-10:00am.
