External Courses of Interest

Spring 2016

ACCRE high-performance computing (SC 3260/5260). Will French teaches a course on parallel programming and high-performance computing in a cluster environment. Students use the ACCRE cluster to complete assignments. The following topics will be covered:

  • Linux command line
  • C programming
  • Compiling/building HPC software
  • Multithreaded programming (Pthreads, OpenMP)
  • Multiprocess programming (MPI)
  • Programming for NVIDIA GPUs (CUDA)
  • Programming for Intel Xeon Phi co-processors

Students will also have an opportunity at the end of the semester to apply these tools to accelerate a programming problem from their field. The class will meet MWF 9:10-10:00am.
